Many of our OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) are unable to go back to the Philippines for many years. It’s not just because of the pandemic, though that has also affected more OFWs.
It’s a sad reality that many of these OFWs weren’t able to go home because they are saving up their money instead of spending it on expensive airfare.
That’s why many OFWs are cheering for the OFW mom who was finally able to go home after 7 years of being away from her family – and she arrived just in time for her daughter’s debut. Awww.
The OFW, Julie Nebreja, has been working in Singapore for 11 years, but the last time she was home was back in 2016.
She would have been able to come home earlier, but the pandemic extended the long-awaited vacation.
Thankfully, she was able to take her vacation in 2022 – and it was just the perfect timing for her daughter’s 18th birthday.
Considering how debuts are an important milestone in a young woman’s life as she enters adulthood, having her mother around for the big day is truly a wonderful gift for Julie’s daughter, Antoneth.
“My message for my daughter, lahat ng Ina ay my pangarap sa kanilang anak at isa ako sa mga un, kaya, nak wag mong sayangin ung opportunity na makatapos ka,” Julie said.
