Guide for OFWs and Expats: How to Renew Your Kuwait Civil ID

Every government across the world would require some form of identification for its residents, whether locals or expatriates.

In Kuwait and other parts of the Middle East, identification cards are strictly required for everyone. Thus, you have to make sure that you have one – and that you renew it before the expiry date.

To renew your Kuwait Civil ID, here are the steps you have to follow.

Make sure to check the expiry date of your old civil ID. Don’t wait until the last day of expiration before you begin planning on what you should do next.

Two Ways to Renew Kuwait Civil ID

There are two ways you can renew your civil ID:

Using a Phone

Step 1. Call 1889988.

Step 2. Choose 1 for Arabic and 2 for English.

Step 3. Enter your civil ID at the prompt.

Step 4. Wait for your request to be processed and further instructions.

Through Online Channels

Step 1. Go the Kuwait Government’s official website [https://www.e.gov.kw/sites/kgoenglish/Pages/HomePage.aspx] and find the link for the service you need or use this link: https://www.e.gov.kw/sites/kgoenglish/Pages/ApplicationPages/ServiceSearch.aspx?T=Civil+ID.

Step 2. Click ‘Start eService’. You will be taken to a pop-up page.

Step 3. Enter your civil ID number. Press ‘Inquire’.

Step 4. Complete the forms and follow the instructions.

Once you completed the instructions above, you will receive a message indicating when you can fully process your renewal and pick up your card; plus charges you need to pay.

Head over to the Public Authority of Civil Information Headquarters at the Reception Hall located at the ground floor of Checkers’ Building in Al Zahra, Kuwait.

Pay the card acquisition fees of KD 5 (Php850).
