OFW Finally Comes Home after 12 Years, Grants Mom’s 80th Birthday Wish

An OFW finally comes home after 12 years, surprising his mother and granting her long-time birthday wish. Isn’t that wonderful?

OFW Finally Comes Home for Mom’s 80th Birthday

Many of our OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) are unable to come back home to the Philippines despite being entitled to a break or vacation from work, especially if their employers or companies don’t pay for their fare.

After all, the fare back and forth can be so costly – and many opt to just save the money, instead.

But for many parents and family members, having their son, daughter, or parents back home is a priceless gift, even if they’re only there for a few weeks, even just a few days.

That’s what a mom in Novaliches, Lita Arnaiz, feels about her son, Ariel, who’s been away for 12 long years.

As the family planned to celebrate her 80th birthday, she wished for him to be home, just like how she wished every single birthday she had away from him. Now that she’s old, she wanted to make sure she sees and hugs her son.

What she didn’t know is that Ariel was finally coming home in time for her birthday.

My tito Ariel who is on abroad for more than a decade was out of reach for long time din dahil sa mga napagdaanan niya na hirap sa abroad, nawalan siya ng means of communication to the point na pati family niya sa Pinas di nya nacocontact. Nag paparamdam naman siya but very limited occasion lang,” explains video uploader Mica Rose Lumantas Arnaiz.

So my lola’s prayer bago siya if ever kunin ni lord, Eh makita at mayakap niya anak nya na si tito Ariel. She didn’t know that our tito Ariel would be there. Ang alam lang niya eh tatawag ang tito Ariel over the phone to greet her.

Lola Lita had no idea about the birthday surprise that when she finally saw her son, she didn’t even know what was happening and she felt a headache. She gave her son a big, long hug – and you can just feel the emotions there.

She was surprised to the point na sabi ng lola ay ‘di ko na alam ang nangyayare, basta masaya lang ako at nasakit ulo ko.’ Masakit ulo niya kasi nabigla siya,” Mica added.

OFW Homecoming Surprises

Many OFWs managed to surprise their families with their homecoming. While many plan their own homecoming surprise, many also get help from other family members to surprise their spouses or parents.
