It is a sad reality that many overseas Filipino workers (OFW), especially those working as domestic helpers, are taken advantage of by their foreign employers. This is true in the Middle East where women are seen to be of less or no value, especially when they are household workers.
But an OFW is recently asking for help, not against her employers but to escape a fellow Filipino who works in the household as family driver.

A woman who goes by the name Vicky Absin, still unconfirmed if this is her real name, sought help from netizens to bring her concern to the Embassy as the family driver at her employer’s home in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia often tries to take advantage of her.
According to Kwentong OFW, Absin had repeatedly asked help from her female employer to simply send her home as she was afraid of the family driver. But the female employer refused to help as her contract was not going to end soon.

Another OFW posted Absin’s concern online, seeking help in behalf of the OFW to bring the matter to the Embassy. The video shared on OFW JOIN FORCE – Ang Boses At Kakampi Ng Mga OFW had since gone viral, with over 270k views.
The video calls for help in bringing the matter to the right authorities, but the page also reminds Filipinos working abroad to also respect female OFWs. After all, laws in Saudi and the rest of the Middle East are strict in this kind of offense.

As of press time, the plight of the OFW remains unknown; though the page encourages senders to also post more details about the OFWs who need help, particularly their real name, agency name and possible contact number, OFW’s contact details and address, employer’s address and possible contact number, and other details that would help them find assistance the soonest time possible.
