UAE Opens Its Doors to OFWs Again, Companies and Businesses Need New Workers

The COVID-19 pandemic greatly affected businesses and jobs all over the world. Many companies had to lay off their workers or even shutdown indefinitely, unsure of when they can operate again. Companies that hired overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were also affected.

But good news to OFWs! Companies and businesses in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are back on their feet and are planning to get new workers to fill their vacancies.

UAE Offers New Jobs for OFWs

Labor Attaché Manuel Dimaano of the Philippine Overseas Labor & Office (POLO) recently announced that many jobs are now available in the UAE.

He added that many companies and businesses have already expressed willingness to hire workers from the Philippines. From January to June of this year, 2021, their office has received over 4,000 job order (JO) requests from these companies.

Dimaano further announced that the new employment requests are the product of the bilateral agreement signed by the Philippines and the UAE back in April. Many of these jobs are for the household service workers (HSWs) category.

When implementation started last April 1, we already received a JO request. We have, as of July, we have 200 plus HSWs already here. We have received around 2,600 plus JO requests. Still under process. When we receive the POLO, we process the JO request,” Dimaano explained.

Once approved based on POEA standards, submit for POEA accreditation. With that number of JOs for HSWs, we expect even more to come here to work.

Dimaano reported that as of July 2021, at least 200 Filipinos have been deployed to the host country. More job orders will be fulfilled in the coming months as COVID-19 restrictions are easing up amid the availability of vaccines.
