In many parts of the Middle East and some other parts of the world, unmarried people of the opposite gender are not allowed to mingle. Though Dubai is considered an ‘open country’ where the laws are a bit less strict than its neighbors, there are still a lot of things you can’t do there that might be just ordinary in the Philippines.
A 32-year-old Pinay domestic helper was recently put on trial after her employer caught her having an affair inside his house.
The Pinay maid (name withheld for privacy reasons) had been employed at the household of the 74-year-old Emirati man for 6 years. She had been with her employers for so long that they had already trusted her to be alone in the villa in Al Qusais, a residential area in Dubai; the employer had another home.

Last June 29 this year, however, the woman granted her Pinoy boyfriend access to the villa. They took some photos inside the villa and she posted these on Facebook, thinking she could get away with this as she wasn’t friends with her employer on social media.
But a friend of her employer noticed the photos and told him about it. This prompted the employer to install security cameras inside the villa.
“She was working with us for six years, and I used to leave the villa as I’m a resident in Ras Al Khaimah. A friend told me that he saw pictures of her with a man inside my villa. I checked her Facebook account and saw the photos,” the Emirati employer revealed.
Footage from the security cameras showed the Pinay maid letting her Pinoy boyfriend inside the villa. It turned out that he wasn’t the only one she granted access to the villa as footage also showed her letting an Indian driver in.
After checking the woman’s FB account, the employer discovered that she was the one who had taken his wife’s diamond ring which was worth 5,000 dirhams (around Php73,100).
“My wife lost a diamond ring and I saw the maid wearing the ring in one of the photos,” the Emirati man added.
The Pinay maid and the Indian driver are now under police custody but her Pinoy boyfriend is still at large.
