Hardworking “Rakitera” Student Receives Many Job Offers After Finally Graduating from College

A hardworking “rakitera” student who spent 10 years in college because she had to quit many times to work many jobs to support herself finally graduates – and many companies have offered her a job! Wow. Which one did she pick?

Working Student Impresses Companies

It took Chryzel Joy Gordula Landicho a good 10 years to graduate from college. But companies were so impressed by her determination that they’re many are offering her a job!

She first completed a 2-year practical nursing course in 4 years. At the time, she was having a hard time juggling her studies with caring for a sibling’s child and working to support her studies and the baby.

She worked at a sabong cockpit, factory worker, and other odd jobs.

Then, she had a stint as a babysitter in Doha, Qatar. Her job paid well and her employers were kind, but Chryzel felt empty. She dreamed of becoming a teacher – and really wanted to become one.

She went back to the Philippines to fulfill that dream, but the road wasn’t easy. She took up Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education at the Laguna State Polytechnic University-Siniloan Campus.

Kasi po parang double degree. Kung matatapos ko, puwede akong kumuha ng Licensure Exam for teachers at Licensure Exam for agriculturists,” she explained.

But her savings got used up by the time she completed the second year. So, she was forced to quit and find jobs.

She found a job as a call center agent but was moved to chat support at an online shopping company.

But 6 months into the job, she received bad news.

Madi-dissolve na raw po ang aming course! Nag-panic talaga ako. Last batch na raw po kami,” she shared.

Naisip ko po kasi, kapag na-dissolve at hindi ako nakasama sa last batch ay mapipilitan akong mag-shift ng course. Matatagalan na naman bago ako maka-graduate.

So, she resigned from the job to go back to school. To support her studies, she turned to online selling, offering a wide range of items. She also offered tutorial services.

On August 18, 2021, she finally earned her college degree. After her story went viral, the inspiring young woman received so many job offers but she turned them down, for now.

She only accepted the offer from a review center because she really wants to get a license and fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher.
