Job Fair for Jobless OFWs, Local Workers

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected thousands of OFWs and local workers across the Philippines. And while many companies continue to be affected, there are others that are planning to hire new workers.

The PEZA announced that a total of 14,969 vacancies are available for workers to apply for on the job fair that is set to begin on Monday, July 13.

PEZA’S Development Outreach for Labor, Livelihood and Advancement of Resources (Human Resource, Technical Resource, Natural Resource and Financial Resource) program or PEZA Dollar program will offer 2,963 job opportunities in Visayas, 1,503 in Mindanao, and 10,499 for multi-site hiring.

We will now be launching the first-ever job fair in preparation for the arrival of repatriated OFWs. Our jobless OFWs will be the priority in the said activity but the job fair will likewise be open to unemployed Filipinos,” announced PEZA Director General Charito Plaza.

We have gathered data on the job opportunities within Peza’s 4,542 locator companies and 408 economic zones to help our fellowmen get jobs and be able to cope with the effect of the pandemic.

While the updated number of vacancies is around 15,000, the total number of projected jobs reached 60,164 nationwide. Such projected jobs include 26 new projects approved by the PEZA board as well as data from PEZA clusters reports.

This job fair is geared to cater to the arriving 62,000 repatriated OFWs and local workers.

Once we are able to finalize the procedure for the program and Dollar Job Fair online job search platform in our website, we will implement the job fair using both physical and virtual avenues with strict observance of the quarantine measures,” Plaza added.

This is just one of the many ways we can help our country and fellowmen cope with the effect of the pandemic. We can make it through with our Bayanihan spirit.

They are also planning to coordinate with Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go for possible partnership.

What is Dollar Job Fair?

The Dollar Job Fair is an event hosted by PEZA that aims to promote and accelerate industrial, economic and social development of the country. In turn, this will help generate jobs for Filipinos, especially among those living in rural areas.

This will also be fully implemented in coordination with PEZA ecozones, local government units, locators, and industry associations.
