These days, it is easy to order something online and have it delivered at home without paying ahead of time, because most online stores offer a “cash on delivery” option. Online shopping has really become so easy that even kids can do it! Of course, you have to be careful in letting kids do online shopping or you’ll end up with a lot of stuff to pay.
But one overseas Filipino worker (OFW) dad decided to surprise his daughter by pretending to be a delivery man from Lazada, a popular online shop in the Philippines. The other members of the family were in on the surprise and had even let the girl choose her order some days earlier.
On the day the package was supposed to be delivered, the family brought the girl, Mikaela Ashley Ignacio, to the door of their sari-sari store where the delivery man was waiting. Wearing a handkerchief to cover half his face, dad Rodel Ignacio, was able to trick the girl that he’s really a delivery man from Lazada.
The girl accepted the small package but was soon taken aback when she had to pay Php300. She certainly did not expect that! Like most kids, Ashley probably thought that you can just order anything online and they simply arrive at their home, without some sort of payment involved.
For some minutes, the confused girl did not know what to do as the delivery man appears to expect payment from her. She tried to explain that this was not really her order because she picked a toy but a watch arrived, instead.
But after a while, the family asked her to remove the delivery man’s mask – and she realized it was a prank. The guy is her dad! Relieved that she didn’t have to pay the delivery man and happy that her dad is home, the young girl rushed forward to give him a hug.

What’s Cash on Delivery?
These days, online shops let costumers pay on delivery. The customer is expected to be at home and pay the order to the delivery man or leave money and authorize someone to accept the package if they won’t be around to receive the items. Because of this payment arrangement, the delivery man will not leave the package unless someone pays for it.
