Pinay Nanny’s Daughter Graduates from Harvard with Honors

A Pinay nanny’s daughter graduates from Harvard with honors, and every Filipino is sharing their happiness as they congratulate the mom and her daughter for their shared achievements.

Pinay Nanny’s Daughter Excels in Harvard

Everyone knows that Harvard University is one of the most prestigious universities in the world.

Even just getting an acceptance letter from the university is reason enough for many aspiring students to celebrate.

Graduating from the university is a dream come true for a chosen few – and that prestige was achieved by Maria De Leon, the daughter of a Pinay nanny in the United States.

Although she was raised as a child in the Philippines, Maria immigrated to the US to be with her OFW (overseas Filipino worker) mom, Jojit De Leon.

A single mom, Jojit had to work multiple jobs to support Maria and her two other kids.

Maria made her mother proud as she received full scholarship at Harvard’s Boston, Massachusetts campus to take up her pre-med course, Molecular and Cellular Biology.

But this inspiring young woman didn’t just finish her studies at the prestigious Ivy League university – she did it with flying colors!

As Maria graduates with honors, her mom feels like she hit the jackpot, especially considering that she never got to finish her studies.

Aside from graduating with honors, Maria also excelled in extra-curricular activities. She served as the External Public Relations officer for Harvard’s Philippine Forum. She’s also a member of District 1 Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue.

I think we talk ourselves out of a lot of opportunities. We say we’re not good enough, that we can’t achieve this because of this and that,” Maria shared.

But honestly, I know there are some hardships that we can’t overcome, but if you keep trying and always fighting for what you want or what you like, something fruitful will always come out of it.

Congratulations!
